Lionel Messi scored his first goal of 2025 for Inter Miami during the club’s first friendly game of the new year. Coming off a Club America 1-0 lead, it was a cross within the penalty area that fell to Messi, where he would then head the ball and score and draw Inter Miami level.
Tomás Avilés would be the latest hero for Inter Miami – Club America will again get the headstart, followed by Inter Miami getting a corner in injury time.
The ball would come to Avilés, and he would score it by heading it into the back of the Inter Miami goal as his second-match goal. The match would go to penalty kicks, with Federico Redondo and Marcelo Weigandt missing, but Inter Miami would go away with a 3-2 victory.
